See it all started with my father. A construction engineering consultant that worked all over the world from the 1960s to the 1990s building oil refineries in Saudi Arabia, to hotels in Vegas, Los Angeles and Costa Rica. When he started out, he knew he needed a name that sounded vaguely global and larger than life. Something kind of Bond-ish. He called it Atlas Oceanic.

When he passed away in 2000 I decided to keep his memory alive by re-incorporating the name and then, rather than just naming the studios in the facility something generic like Studio A, Studio B, and Studio C, I honor his memory by naming them after places where he worked: Dubai, Vegas, Bora Bora and soon to come... Los Angeles.

I remember as a kid growing up in the early 1970s seeing random inventions all around the house that my dad had created. Be it a new type of locking mechanism for a door, panty-hose dryer, custom furniture or a 50 pound Rube Goldberg-esque butter slicer, he was always looking for creative ways to solve problems. Along with the name, I seem to have adopted that skill as well: be it a proprietary take counter, or developing methods and workflows for remote records and cast records.

This tip of the hat is also a reverberation of the crew we have here and the kind of thoughtful, professional service that we provide and how we take care of our crew, our clients and your projects.
