Recording dialogue for animation is a specialized skill, one that we’ve honed since 1994. While some facilities started out as music recording studios and then added on voice-over or dialogue recording, we created Atlas Oceanic with a specific focus to service our animation friends and clients. More than just the technical skill of a clean recording, it is the ability to anticipate what will be needed next in the session and whats happening in the room. What will the talent do next? How they will deliver a read? Will they ad-lib after their line? All to ensure there isn’t a missed moment of lightning in a bottle. While at the same time reading the control room and keeping the session running smoothly without it ever being noticed.

We keep an eye on the future and adapt to this ever-changing industry and the needs of our clients and projects. So in this new world of distributed production, we pioneered workflows and technologies to connect talent and production anywhere in the world. Immediately when the pandemic hit in early 2020, we pivoted, adapted, and helped support the VO community with the transition to remote recording and developed proprietary workflows and technologies to provide the best solutions available. Solutions that continue to benefit the industry even after the pandemic has passed. We now find ourselves in a new paradigm of animation audio production and are uniquely able to facilitate any type of workflow needed. If talent is in Milan, Italy, and production is in Woodland Hills and the Voice Director is in our facility with the rest of the cast is in a studio in Vancouver, we can make it happen.

Since weve been doing remote connections since the days of ISDN, we have developed a list of trusted studios in the US and abroad. We also provide remote studio vetting and talent system vetting and well as Dialogue Supervision to ensure continuity across the entire dialogue part of your project.

Recording is only part of the process. Accurate and clear note-taking is crucial to building the show with the performances that the production desires.

When recording is complete, our editors get to work on cleaning up the recordings by removing clicks, pops, plosives as well as de-noising and volume balancing to ensure continuity between in-studio and at-home recordings so that the audio post team can focus on the creative rather than technical issues. We provide any type of delivery your production needs: building a natural pause edit, radio play or even sub-clipping of all takes so that your picture editor can build the story the any way the director sees fit.

As the needs of production advance and change, we have adapted to continually provide unique services to streamline production. We can provide ‘wild’ UHD facial reference and if requested, we can even sync the shot footage to the Protools session. Through our technology partners we are also happy to provide facial capture services.
